Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Albany County Criminal History. Reading its material, opening a page, or using a search feature signals acceptance of the terms below. A visitor who does not agree should stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately run website has no affiliation with any government body. Neither it nor its advertising partners provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to route readers to criminal-record resources in Albany County and New York. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not store official records, conduct official checks, retrieve documents, or submit filings for a visitor.

Its content identifies Albany County record custodians, including the Sheriff, criminal court clerks, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. It may also connect readers with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on avoiding each of the following:

  • Use automated scraping tools, bots, or crawlers against the pages
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Stalk, threaten, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use the content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Disrupt service or interfere with another visitor's access
  • Violate any applicable federal, state, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool must not be used to threaten, stalk, harass, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. New York's Sex Offender Registration Act, Correction Law article 6-C, governs the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Registry data is for public safety awareness and never authorizes vigilantism or unlawful action against a listed person.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, background checks, or any other consumer report. Our advertising partners likewise do not make the site a service for regulated screening or eligibility decisions. Information from these pages or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Set insurance terms or evaluate creditworthiness
  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other decision governed by the FCRA

A legally regulated background check must come from an authorized official channel or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Nothing published here is legal advice. General explanations of Albany County records cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, or record-sealing law applies to one person. Individual advice must come from a licensed New York attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is," without a promise that:

  • A partner search result will be complete or correct
  • Every page will be free from errors or security weaknesses
  • The service will remain continuously available
  • Published information will always be current, complete, and accurate

Criminal records change as charges are filed, resolved, corrected, or sealed. Gaps and delays are unavoidable. No page here is an official statement from a court, the Sheriff, DCJS, or another government office.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to the Sheriff, courts, New York agencies, legal services, or outside search providers. Those destinations are independently controlled. We are not responsible for their content, availability, prices, or data practices, and visitors should review each destination's terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Albany County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, modified, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for loss arising from use of the website, its information, or any service reached through a link.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to use of the site must be brought in a court located in New York. Public-record access remains governed by the New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law article 6, and DCJS dissemination authority under Executive Law section 837.

12. Changes to These Terms

These conditions may be revised. A new version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected language will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be sent through the Contact page.
